Every legislator considering cutting funding to charter schools should see these kids' faces

"The victory here is that the students have a changed life, a changed perspective, a changed outlook.....We serve the disenfranchised, the disinterested....If charter schools close for lack of funding, we will be alienating a group of kids who don't have the advantages others have."

-- Andre Dove, Vice Principal

The state currently discriminates against charter school students in terms of funding.  Parents and students turn to public charter schools because the environment of their traditional public school (the one assigned by zip code) wasn't the best choice for them. They turn to charter schools for options.

Now, the Legislature is considering cuts to charter school funding-- cuts that would be devastating to charter schools already struggling from lack of facilities funding.  Look at the faces of these students, charter school kids in Spokane, who sat down with us to talk about why they attend their public charter school, and demand an explanation for why these kids deserve less funding and support than traditional public school kids.
